SAFE SHAPES AND ADVANCED SHAPES

What is the difference?

With the advanced shapes you can see objects through the cab windows  from one side of the loco to the other. Unfortunately this causes some systems to crash MSTS hence the “Safe” shapes.

The difference between the two files is just two numbers which can easily be edited with WordPad.

Safe Shape:-

sub_object_header ( 00000400 -1 -1 000001d2 000001c4

Advanced Shape:-

sub_object_header ( 00000500 -1 0 000001d2 000001c4

Most of my locos are made up of two parts. Only the shape with the windows. Usually the main shape’ not the “-Body-” shape may need to be edited.

The Brit Kits will no longer include the Safe and Advanced shape folders. The default shapes will be of the safe type. If you need the feature of seeing objects through the windows edit the shape files as above.

For the OR&W getting coal down to the Ohio River was always a problem, particularly on the steep grades. Influenced by the Erie and Virginian Rail Roads an attempt was made to rebuild a triplex from two wrecked mallets. This banking engine was based at Florence and continued in service until replaced by diesel power
