Please read before you use any of my models.

Note on your re-skins.

If you re-skin any of the freeware models you can upload your work to any of the train simulation web sites (graphics, model and supporting files). After gaining my permission.

As regards the pay ware models you can upload your graphics and supporting files only. NOT the model. Again you need to gain my permission first.

Permission will usually be readily granted as the kits have been developed for your enjoyment, but I like to know who is doing what with my work.

Support.

One of the reasons for the “kit” format is for you, the end user, to learn how to manipulate the various files needed  to get rolling stock into Rail Simulator. To this end not all the files needed may be included. For instance, in the GP9 Xtra pack there are shape and graphics files for the GP9 B unit but no bin/xml file. As all the GP9s are basically the same it is for you to work out how to create a bin/xml file from the ones you already have in the kit.

I will not usually give help here as it is expected that you have the knowledge or are willing to do research to get the information of how to do this from other sources. Please note that the “Special Packs” are not designed for repainting and are offered as working models. I suggest you download one of my free ware models first (the RS3 pack for instance) to see if you are satisfied with the standard of modelling and that they will work on your computer setup before you part with your money.

Requests.

I occasionally get request to do specific models. As I intend to work through all my MSTS models and convert them for RS there is a LOT of work involved. So for the time being, unless your project really grabs my interest, I will be unable to do the work.

With the update to RW4 The textures of many of my models will need updating. I will update all my catalogue and correct any other problems. Please see my forum for progress reports.

These of course will be free to pay ware customers if you are on my database.  When requesting updates please give me the name and email address of the PayPal account you used to purchase the model. Occasionally customers use their business, wives or mother’s accounts so if George emails and says “Hi dick I want the upgrade to the EMD WC Hiflow”  I wont find George because his purchase is under Alexandrina his mother.

Please Note

You will need the free basic pack installed first.

The Xtra packs need a password to open the archive. I will send this and the link to the file as soon as I receive confirmation of the sale from PayPal

I do this manually so think London (GMT) time as to if I am monitoring my emails!!

If for some reason you are not able to download the file in that time or you do not save the file and have a HD crash. Email me. If you are on my records I will reissue access to the file.

Though they can usually be “run out of the box” the kits are designed for repainting. The fittings folder contains customising parts. It is assumed the end user has some knowledge of  RS or RW bin/xml file manipulation or is willing to learn as these are the backbone of the simulator vital for holding everything together.

With the introduction of TS2013  The following disclaimer has to be brought to your notice. There should NOT be any of  RailSimulator’s files in my packs BUT if you do come across any in my official packs (Not including pirated copies) , please let me know so they can be removed.

There has been some discussion of the wording of RailWorks EULA. I received the following answer to a request for clarification.

“Thanks for letting us know your concerns about the TS2012 EULA.

We updated this in TS2013 in the hope of making it clearer than the old TS2012 version. The clause in question is trying to protect assets owned by RailSimulator.com from being repurposed and sold on without our consent. We will discuss this clause with our legal advisors and see if we can make this cause clearer in an updated version of the EULA.
